Car 78, Rich
Muellerleile
Rich's past in the Town
traces back to the times of the Chichester Furniture Factory, where
members of his family resided in the Town of Shandaken & made a
living. Vacationing for Summers in the Chichester area, Rich finally
moved from the Poughkeepsie area to his place of solace in 2007 where
he resides with his wife and daughter. Rich had his beginnings as a
volunteer member of the Phoenicia Fire District in 1999 where he still
activly volunteers as an interior firefighter, and has since served in
a multitude of positions in professional & volunteer EMS/ Fire
organizations while earning State & National certifications in EMS,
Firefighting, HAZMAT, Incident Command, & Technical Rescue. In
addition to serving as the Squad's Captain & Administrator Rich is
employed as a Professional Firefighter/ Paramedic with the Arlington
Fire District in Poughkeepsie, NY. Rich oversees all Administrative/
Operational aspects of the Squad.

Car 78-1, Dennis Frano
Captain Frano
celebrated his 20th consecutive year with the Town of Shandaken
Ambulance Service in 2009 and has served a total of 25+ years as an
emergency services provider. As an EMT with
much experience, as well as a lifelong
Shandaken Town resident whom served as a Town Councilmen Dennis
has seen the Squad morph from its humble beginnings to where we are
today. Dennis also volunteers with Shandaken - Allaben Hose Company
where he is an active interior firefighter and has held a plethora of
administrative and operational positions including Company Captain and
President. Dennis spends his time off hunting, thinking about hunting,
or working at the Ulster County Highway Department, where it is rumored
he speaks very highly about hunting. Dennis oversees all EMT &
Driver operational issues, as well as apparatus, equipment, and supply
maintenance and restock.

Car 78-2, Brendan Whalen
Lieutenant Whalen has served
as a Paramedic with the Town's Ambulance Squad for 4 years. On top of
serving at the EMT and Paramedic level at Mobile Life Support Services
for more than 6 years, Brendan served as Captain of the Ruby Fire
Department in the Town of Ulster as well as numerous positions
including interior firefighter in the Hurley Fire Department. He is
currently a member of the Ulster Hose Co. No. 5. In addition to working
50+ hours a week as a Paramedic Brendan is a devoted newlywed, and
along with his wife enjoys attending Celtic Festivals as a member of
the Ulster Ancient Order of Hibernians celebrating his Irish heritage.
Brendan serves as the Squad training officer as well as the ALS QA/QI
coordinator.

Car 78-3, Mark Bedell
Lieutenant Bedell has been
involved in Emergency Services since birth, as his Mother and Father
were both Emergency Services Coordinators in Rennselear County, NY and
held connections to the Big Indian-Oliverea Valley (Remember the old
Movie Theatre?). Mark Has been a NYS Certified Paramedic for 30+ years,
and has been involved in EMS longer than pencils or pens have existed.
In addition to his military service, Mark has served for numerous EMS
and Fire organizations in countless leadership roles in his travels
while holding technician level or instructor level certifications
in most technical rescue, firefighting, and EMS certifications
available within New York State. In addition to working a whopping 72
hours a week for Shandaken Ambulance, Mark currently serves as a
Captain and Commissioner of the Hoags Corners Fire Co. No. 1 in
Rennselear County and is also a member of Hoags Corners Volunteer
Ambulance Squad. Mark is responsible for the Squad's special
operations/ hazards division, member crosstraining, and assists with
EMT/ Driver operations & scheduling.
